Short answer: no
Here’s why:
Insurance companies hold significant power over your healthcare. They decide what kind of therapy you can receive and limit the number of sessions you can have. Moreover, insurance companies can demand access to your confidential medical information, such as your diagnosis and the details of your sessions (aka progress notes), to determine if your need for therapy and our work together was "medically necessary."
Insurance companies put therapists in a tough position when they refuse to pay us for sessions or ask us to pay them back if they deem our work together was not a "medical necessity".
This situation leaves therapists in a challenging position, potentially owing your health insurance company significant amounts, sometimes in the hundreds or thousands of dollars, months or even years after the service was provided. If you'd like to learn more about this issue, here's a great article.
Given these complexities, I find it more beneficial to work with you directly, rather than through your insurance company.
If you have out-of-network benefits and would like to ask your health insurance to reimburse you for out-of-pocket expenses, read Understanding Health Insurance Reimbursement to learn what questions to ask your health insurance provider.
I understand that not everyone has the financial resources to pay the standard service rate. For this reason, I reserve a limited number of openings for a sliding scale rate.

My style is conversational and relaxed.
I will be an active participant in our work together and ask questions that deepen awareness, self-reflection, and processing.
I enjoy using non-linear healing practices that uplift possibility, imagination, and creativity.
I center myself as a collaborator versus being the expert in the room.
Rather than telling you what to do, we’ll explore your options, and you’ll choose the path that feels most aligned for you.
With that said, our work will always be based on your individual needs and intentions for the time and space we share together.

The number of sessions will depend on what you want to accomplish together. We can discuss this further in our first session together.
-
For therapy, sessions usually start weekly and then transition to every two weeks and then monthly sessions. However, it is possible to begin with sessions every two weeks. Nevertheless, I want to be sure that you feel supported and resourced between our sessions since two weeks can be a long time before we see each other again. I recommend starting with weekly sessions if you are dealing with high levels of stress or activation.
As for coaching, there is more flexibility in terms of how often we meet, since our work together focuses on personal growth rather than trauma work.
If you’re unsure how often we should see each other, let’s discuss this during our consultation.

Yes! I’ve worked with many people who don’t live close to one another. However, for therapy services, everyone will need to be in Michigan or New York during the session since I can only see people in states where I’m licensed. Relationship coaching does not have state restrictions, so we can work together no matter where you live.
-
As of now, all services are held virtually on a HIPPA-compliant video platform or over the phone.
-
Absolutely! Finding a therapist as a therapist can be really tough. Our work together will prioritize you over your role as a therapist unless it's beneficial to explore. There will be no judgment regarding your mental and/or physical health challenges while working a care provider.
